What is restylane?
Restylane filler is brand of hyaluronic acid injection treatments used to reduce wrinkles, restore volume and enhance facial contours.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a natural and integral part of your skin provides hydration, fullness and elasticity. Over time, we lose HA from the ageing process, making wrinkles, facial volume loss and loss of facial definition more noticeable.

Ageing starts from our late 20s and is influenced by both intrinsic (genetics and natural ageing) and extrinsic factors that include:

Who Is not a good candidate for restylane?
Restylane products should not be used by people who:
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 22 years of age
- Have recently used drugs that thin the blood or prevent clotting
- Have had previous bad allergies, particularly to microorganisms known as gram-positive bacteria
- Have serious allergies to drugs that have previously required in-hospital treatment
- Have bleeding disorders
- Have a known allergy to lidocaine

Which restylane product should i choose?
The Restylane filler portfolio emcompasses a wide range of product that has different characteristics to meet your unique needs. Basically, HA fillers are engineered according to their gel viscosity (how firm or soft the gel is). Firmer HA fillers provide a more firmer support and gives extra projection for facial contouring (e.g. cheeks and chin). On the other hand, softer HA fillers offers flexible support for more dynamic areas of the face such as the lips and undereye region.
For the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It is useful to plump up your lips.
Restylane® Lyft with Lidocaine is for deep implantation into the facial tissue for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds and for cheek augmentation and for the correction of age-related midface contour deficiencies. Restylane® Lyft with Lidocaine is also indicated for injection into the dorsal hand to correct volume loss.
Restylane® Kysse is for lip augmentation and for correction of upper perioral wrinkles.
Restylane® Defyne is for the correction of moderate to severe deep facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. It is also a good choice for chin augmentation.

How is the restylane filler procedure done?
After a consultation and a facial assessment to meet your aesthetic goals, we will decide on the type of HA fillers, the number of syringes to be used and complementary procedures we can do at the same time. During the consultation, it is important to inform your doctor if you are on any medication, have any underlying medical conditions or drug allergies.
Your skin is cleansed of make up, oil and debris with an anti-septic solution. Numbing cream may be provided to improve your comfort throughout the procedure. Most Restylane filler products have lidocaine, which is a local anaesthetic incorporated into the filler making it virtually painless.
Based on your unique facial anatomy and aesthetic goals, the doctor will carefully inject the fillers to restore facial volume, improve facial volume and reduce wrinkles.
What can you expect after your procedure?
Everyone will respond differently to restylane filler procedure. However, recovery is pretty quick for the majority of patients with some expected swelling that can last a couple of days.

- Itching at the injection site
These will depend on the area injected. Redness, swelling and bruising may last up to a week for nasolabial fold injections while lip injections may take at least 2 weeks to resolve.
