Anti Aging Skin Laxity Treatment with INFINI

Anti aging skin laxity treatment is now made possible with the INFINI system. The INFINI system uses novel Fractional Radiofrequency technology. It is an effective treatment for skin rejuvenation, wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks and acne scars.

The INFINI system is designed to deliver precise energy at greater depths, with low downtime and is safe across all skin types.

INFINI can safely be combined with botulinum toxin treatments, face fillers treatment, facelift with threads and lasers for pigmentation. This results in an overall enhancement of your natural beauty.

The INFINI Difference

History of Skin Tightening Devices

When it comes to anti aging treatments & skin laxity,  there is an increasing trend for individuals to choose non-surgical procedures. When skincare creams, lotions and potions are just not enough, and surgery is too extreme, many individuals now seek non-surgical skin tightening as a go between. While surgery will produce dramatic results in cases of severe skin laxity, surgery is also associated with significant risk such as nerve damage, bleeding and infection and downtime is a significant consideration.

Non-surgical treatment for skin tightening are popular treatments for individuals with mild to moderate skin laxity, and for individuals who want to arrest the early signs of ageing before it even begins. It is also suitable for those who want to avoid a surgical face lift, have medical conditions that precludes them from having surgery, or simply just cannot afford the downtime and high cost involved.

From 2005-2009, Thermage CPT was the most popular skin tightening device. Thermage is an external radiofrequency device that produces bulk heating within the skin. This was shortly replaced with Ulthera in 2009, a technology based on high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). HIFU devices work by creating pin-point coagulation zones within the skin to stimulate wound healing. In 2013, INFINI was awarded FDA approval in the US, and has since received worldwide recognition for treating acne scars, skin tightening, wrinkles and lines. INFINI system is a novel technology, that introduces thermal energy within the deep dermis while sparing the upper layers of the skin. This is done via a Fractional micro needling radiofrequency device, making it an effective treatment option across all skin types with a low downtime.

How is it Different from Microneedling?

Micro needling is a popular procedure where a hand held device is rolled onto the skin, and small needles puncture the skin to inflict an injury.  Skin remodelling is dependent solely on the manual injury the micro needles creates under the skin. Multiple treatment sessions are required for some improvement.

With INFINI, the micro needles that penetrate the skin are able to transmit radiofrequency energy to break down proteins, and stimulate the formation of collagen and elastin. The gold insulated needles only emits energy at the tip of the needle, which means that the upper skin layers are spared of any injury, and energy is delivered precisely to the desired depth.

How is it Different from External Radiofrequency devices?

The use of radiofrequency in the medical field has existed for over 70 years. However not all radiofrequency (RF) devices are alike. Most of today’s external RF devices have a hand-held piece that delivers heat from the device, through the upper layer of the skin (the epidermis), and finally down into the target dermal layer.

Such delivery of energy is very variable as the individual skin will have differences in thickness, hyaluronic acid and collagen composition. In addition,  external RF devices require a cooling system to protect the epidermis, which makes balancing precise delivery of energy and effectively stimulating sufficient collagen a difficult task.

When considering anti aging skin laxity treatment, how the energy is delivered is vital. With INFINI, the energy is delivered precisely into the skin at a precise depth, from 0.5 to 3.5mm. One key advantage is that several different levels of the dermis can be treated to stimulate more collagen.

With INFINI, the adjustment of the depth gives it an advantage over other external RF devices that just produces bulk heating. As the skin thickness varies depending on the area of the face, with the cheeks being the thickest and the skin around the eyes being the thinnest, so the ability to use a shallower depth allows safe treatments to be carried out.

How Does it Compare to HIFU?

HIFU stands for high intensity focused ultrasound. It uses ultrasound energy to target the deep skin layers to deliver heat, and non-surgically tightens the skin over time. There are currently many devices that are marketed as HIFU for the treatment of skin laxity.

By comparison, INFINI treatment for skin laxity works differently from HIFU. INIFINI uses high intensity focused radiofrequency energy. This thermal energy is transmitted in a fractional manner within the skin. Fractional technology allows energy to be delivered into multiple discrete points, where the affected areas of the skin are surrounded by unaffected normal tissue. This leads to faster healing times, less risk of complications, and improved comfort during the procedure.

The majority of collagen contraction, synthesis and remodelling takes place in the deep dermis. HIFU devices have penetration of only 3 standard depths; 1.5mm, 3mm and 4.5mm. The 4.5mm depth is perhaps too deep as facial skin thickness does not extend below 3.5mm. Deeper treatments have a risk of unintended fat loss and may give the skin a hollowed in appearance.

With INFINI, the ability to adjust depth of penetration makes the treatment versatile and highly customisable. It has been shown that skin thickness varies at different areas of the face and neck. It can treat different skin levels from 0.5mm to 3.5mm. For example, a depth of 1mm may be suitable for  thinner skin around the eyes, compared to a 3mm depth for cheek treatments.

INFINI can also be used to treat more superficial lines and wrinkles because of the ability to adjust the depth of treatment to an appropriate level. HIFU is only effective for deeper lifting. INFINI lifts and tightens skin from the inside out.

In individuals with co-existing acne scars and skin laxity, the INFINI system offers the advantage of treating these two conditions at the same time.

Is INFINI Safe on All Skin Types?

Absolutely! INFINI bypasses the upper layer of the skin (epidermis), and delivers precise energy into the dermis to stimulate collagen, remodelling and skin tightening.

Fractional Lasers such as the CO2 and the Er:YAG lasers vaporizes both the upper and lower layers of the skin. This explains the prolonged redness and downtime associated with these devices.

How long do I need to recover?

The healing time with INFINI is much faster compared to fractional laser devices.

You may experience some redness, and mild swelling after the procedure. Most of these will subside in 2-3 days. With fractional lasers, the downtime can last up to 10-14 days.

How many sessions do I need?

Every individual is different, and so is your skin type, skin condition, degree of skin laxity and response to treatment.

With repeated treatments, the results are optimised. For best results,  2-4 INFINI anti aging skin laxity treatment are carried out during the initial phase of the treatment, and subsequently once every 12-18months for maintenance.

How soon can I see results?

During the INFINI anti aging skin laxity treatment, old collagen is broken down and skin contraction occurs at the same time. INFINI stimulates your body’s natural healing properties.

New collagen and elastin is laid down which are more organised and abundant within the skin. This process continues to take place 4-6 months and beyond after the procedure. Results only get better with time.
