What is advatx laser?

The ADVATx laser represents a significant advancement in dermatological laser technology, offering a versatile and effective treatment for a variety of skin conditions. This dual-wavelength laser system combines a 589 nm and a 1319 nm laser in a single device, allowing for comprehensive treatment of vascular and inflammatory skin conditions, as well as skin rejuvenation.

OUR APPROACH

HOW DR.NG employs advatx laser

The ADVATx laser stands out as a cutting-edge solution for various dermatological issues, combining efficacy with safety and patient comfort. Its dual-wavelength capability allows for a comprehensive approach to skin treatment, addressing both superficial and deeper skin concerns.

Pulsed dye laser (585-595nm) is preferentially absorbed by oxyhaemoglobin.

How does advatx laser work?

The ADVATx laser operates with two specific wavelengths:

  • 589 nm (Visible light): Pulsed dye laser wavelength lies within 585-595nm range. This wavelength targets hemoglobin in blood vessels, making it particularly effective for treating vascular conditions such as rosacea, telangiectasia, and erythema. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which help in managing conditions like acne and reducing post-inflammatory erythema.
  • 1319 nm (Near-Infrared Light): This wavelength penetrates deeper into the skin, targeting sebaceous glands and stimulating collagen production. It is effective for treating acne, scars, fine lines, and overall skin texture and tone improvement.

The unique combination of a vascular laser and skin rejuvenating laser allows Dr Ng. to provide distinct treatment options customised to your skin type and skin care concerns.

What can advatx laser treat?

APAX medical aesthetic clinic advatx laser

With over 25 FDA/CE cleared indications ranging from acne, rosacea, melasma and scars, patients of many ages and skin types are suitable candidates for this treatment.

ADVATx laser is clinically effective to target the inflammatory component of active acne vulgaris and improve the appearance of acne scars simultaneously. The 589nm laser targets inflammation, redness and post-acne erythema, while the 1319nm laser targets the sebaceous gland to reduce oil production and remodels the dermis to resurface acne scars.

Red, purple, and pink areas of discolouration often occur when blood vessels near the surface of the skin are dysfunctional or become damaged. Dr. Ng can provide low-downtime treatments for various vascular abnormalities by using the device’s PulSync mode to deliver laser energy at wavelengths of 589nm. Vascular conditions that can be treated with ADVATx include:

  • Cherry angiomas
  • Telangiectasias (spider veins)
  • Port wine stains
  • Rosacea
  • Venous lakes
  • Hemangiomas
  • Angiomas

Hyperpigmentation occurs when pigment producing cells called melanocytes produce too much skin pigment, or melanin. Excess melanin can result in many shapes and shades of discoloured blotches, patches, and spots on the skin’s surface. Dr. Ng can use ADVATx to destroy overactive melanocytes for a reduction in pigment and visible improvements in:

  • Poikiloderma of Civatte – This condition, which presents as patches of brownish-red on the neck and chest, is typically caused by long-term sun damage.
  • Melasma – Sometimes referred to as the “mask of pregnancy,” melasma appears as brown-gray spots or brown patches on the face. Treating this condition can be very complex, as there are vascular aspects and sebaceous gland components to consider and address. Dr. Ng has found the addition of ADVATx advantageous for melasma treatments.
  • Dyschromia – Dyschromia is characterized by reddish or purplish patches on the surface of the skin. Dyschromia is often seen on photodamaged skin. Since successful treatment often requires addressing blood vessel abnormalities and melanin variations, ADVATx can be an ideal treatment solution.

By harnessing both wavelengths, Dr. Ng can address superficial skin imperfections and inflammation in addition to stimulating the body’s natural production of collagen for a multitude of anti-aging benefits. ADVATx can improve the appearance of:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Dull skin
  • Age spots
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sun damage
  • Redness

Using a combination patient-tailored approach, Dr Ng. can use the ADAVTx in conjunction with other scar treatments to address:

  • Acne Scars
  • Stretch marks (red and white)
  • Hypertrophic -Keloid Scars
  • Traumatic and Post-operative Scars

Who is suitable for the advatx treatment?

ADVATx laser is suitable, safe and effective for all skin types. Patients who prefer a shorter downtime, who want to improve their skin health and have realistic expectations about the treatment outcomes may be suitable candidates.

You should be in good general health and not have exisiting skin infections. Patients with a history of oral herpes or cold sores may be prescribed a course of anti-viral therapy to reduce the risk of re-infections.

Where some dermatological conditions may be more severe in nature, Dr Ng. will review your medical history and determine if alternative treatment options may be more suitable for you.

What is the ADVATx procedure like?

FAST: After cleansing your skin of impurities and make-up, your treatment begins. You will be provided with eye shields for your protection. A cooling gel is applied onto your skin, and the laser hand-piece is gently glided across your skin to deliver laser energy to the treatment area. Depending on your condition, your treatment time is usually about 30 minutes.

COMFORTABLE: The ADVATx  laser procedure is well-tolerated for most patients. You may experience a warm sensation as heat builds up as the treatment progresses. Areas that are more inflammed and regions around the eyes, nose and mouth  are generally more sensitive. A cooling sensation is felt when the cool sapphire glass guide is in contact with your skin. Topical anaesthesia cream is not needed in most cases as it may constrict the blood vessels within the skin rendering treatment less effective.

You can expect to resume your normal activities shortly after your procedure.
