Facelift Thread Lifting

Facelift Thread Lifting is very much an art as it is science. The recent use of biocompatible and naturally absorbable threads to reverse the signs of ageing has taken the world by storm. Thread lifting is a common lunchtime procedure in Korea, Japan and many parts of Asia. It is estimated that over 2000 clinics in Korea offer facial thread lift treatment.

Threads for facial rejuvenation and lifting has evolved over the past 20-30 years. In the past, individuals have expressed concern over non-absorbable threads. They have a risk of migration, extruding from the skin, and may be visible under facial expression. Nowadays, face thread lift technique using absorbable materials are safe and effective.

We have selected threads from Korea of the highest quality giving you a peace of mind. Every treatment that is conceived and conceptualized is tailored to the individual, with the end result already in mind. With a methodical and technical approach, we are able to consistently produce effective and natural looking results for our clients.

Why do Facial Thread Lift?

Ageing causes many effects on the skin. Collagen and elastin which are the building blocks of skin architecture gets more disorganized and is broken down at an accelerated pace due to the ageing process. The end result? Skin gets thinner, saggier, wrinkled and more folds appear.

Thread lifting reverses the effects of the ageing skin. By placing biocompatible and dissolvable threads under the skin, it stimulates collagen growth and contributes to skin tightening and anti-wrinkle face-lifting effect.

How is it different from Traditional Thread Lifting?

Traditional thread lifting procedures for facial lift is an invasive procedure that involves an incision into the skin and dissection of tissues. The procedure typically takes about 3 hours, and is associated with significant pain, bruising and swelling following the procedure. Scarring is evident along the incision line.

On the other hand, the newer Korean V Threads, using biocompatible material and technique is minimally invasive. Using advanced principles of parallel vector technique, collagen is stimulated and skin is lifted and tightened. This lunchtime procedure lasts 30-60 minutes, pain and down time is mild and temporary, and no scarring is seen.

What is PDO Thread Lift?

PDO Thread Lift for facial rejuvenation uses the biocompatible material known as polydiaxonone (PDO). PDO materials are used extensively in surgery due to its safety, biocompatibility and resilience. PDO is also a biodegradable material. This means that it is naturally broken down by your body before being excreted within 6 to 8 months.

PDO thread lift has shown to cause tissue contracture and increase thickening of the dermal layer of the skin. This is explained by the increase in collagen synthesis. The improvement in the tensile strength in the skin reinforces skin integrity.

What types of Facial Threads are there?

There are various types of threads that are designed for specific treatment outcomes. Threads differ in their composition, thickness and design. This gives greater flexibility and option when conceptualising the best approach for you.

Threads are made from biocompatible and biodegradable materials. They are safely dissolved in the body after a few months. They act as a scaffolding for effectively stimulating fibroblast and new collagen growth. Most threads are made from poly-diaxonone (PDO), commonly used in everyday surgery for wound closure. It completely reabsorbed by the body in 6 months. Threads made from poly L-lactic acid (PLLA) and polycaprolactone (PCL) slowly reabsorb within 1-2 years.

Cog PDO Thread Lift

The Cog threads are designed to anchor more firmly within the skin. Cog threads have barbs, which upon insertion are attached to the skin tissues. The design of this thread helps to pull skin more evenly by distributing the stresses more uniformly. This provides a better lift compared to Mono Threads.

Main area: Cheeks, Jowls, Nasolabial folds, Nose.

Spiral Cog Threads

Spiral cog threads are engineered to have stronger skin lifting capacity. The barbs are designed in a 360 degree fashion around the threads. They are able to hold tissues stronger and distribute forces more evenly. These types of PDO threads are used in areas where more anchoring and lifting is required.

Main areas: Cheeks, Jowls, Nasolabial folds.

How is the procedure done?

An anaesthetic cream is applied to the skin prior to the procedure. Our approach is tailored to the best possible outcome. Markings are made on the skin to identify the best vector approach (the direction where skin is to be pulled) and placement of the threads is made via special fine needles.

The whole procedure takes under 1 hour in most cases. The procedure is well tolerated in most individuals and you will be able to resume your normal activities right after the procedure.
